Rigorous State

I'm such a girl for the living room.  I really like to stay in my nest and not move.  I travel in my mind, and that that's a rigorous state of journeying for me.  My body isn't that interested in moving from place to place.

Bell Hooks

Maintaining a positive outlook and creating a clear visual of our desires is vital in seeing our dreams come true.    With energy to better our life, and to master challenges we move through life with a healthy balance.  Life will not pass us by if we are awake, alert, and flexible to change.

Timing is never our own, so we must be open to the flow of life and trust in the higher powers.

We will avoid drama by not resisting change.  Change is not necessarily comfortable, but this does not make it bad or wrong.  We cannot achieve our dreams by standing still avoiding opportunities or small steps that will lead us closer to our desires.

If we create a vision or picture of how we will look, feel, and act when we bring happiness into our lives, it will be of great support throughout our day.  When we keep this image of our self close by, rather than thinking negative thoughts, we can flash our picture in our mind.  Picturing every detail helps the mind to re-frame non-stop  self-criticism.  We begin to automatically focus on a positive images minimizing self-sabotage.

After awhile, our vision of happiness becomes part of our day.  Our outlook is brighter, we walk with a bounce in our step, and we find ourselves anticipating good to happen rather than defeat.  We begin to feel better about ourselves, family, friends, and the future.

We begin living our dream in an emotional state, attracting parts of our dream from the physical.  We notice opportunities, create unexpected openings, and move forward towards our goals. There will be times of sadness or pain, but simply put, that is part of life and there is no avoiding it all together.

Our attitude and determination will carry us through difficult times.  It is in these difficult times we are shaped and formed into better human beings.  We gather compassion and empathy for our selves and for others.  Carrying our vision with us all of the time, we will not be easily deterred.  As we stay engaged with our surroundings, we feel a part of and not separate from others.

The next time we find our self settling into our nest, get creative and begin to visualize. Imagine
how we will look wearing confidence, laughter, and a happy-go-lucky smile! Freeze frame that shot and review it throughout the day.

Night Circus

I thought a circus environment would be an interesting venue to explore, where you didn't just have one tent with three rings and a show going on but where you could explore different things in different tents.

Erin Morgenstern
NIGHT CIRCUS

While at my daughter's home, she encouraged me to read a book she had just finished reading.  The book is entitled, "NIGHT CIRCUS" written by Erin Morgenstern.  It is not the type of book I would choose for my self, but I enjoyed it immensely.  It was relaxing to escape into the fantasy of a Night Circus, to use my own imagination to broaden the author's intention, and to experience a life more like a dream.

Night Circus is not filled with clowns, animals and carnival rides.  The story focuses more on individual characters and how they expand their gifts and talents.  The author engages the young and the old into an arena of possibility where imagination allows escape from every day reality.  The fantasy triggers questions of whether or not things like this story could really exist.

Although this is a fun read, there are a few characters showing a dark side, ulterior motives, and ability to manipulate others.  So there are parallels comparable to reality.  We must stay alert, dedicated to our purpose, open to creativity, and be aware of others motivations.

So if you are looking for an interesting escape with great character development, laced with illusions and memorable characters, Night Circus will be of interest to you!

Synchronicity and Magic

Dear God ...
Help me to let go of
the me that was,
and begin again as a better self ...

Marianne Williamson

There was a time when it was difficult for me to get through an hour let alone a day, a month or a year.  Fear held me frozen in place and if it were not for my children, I would have given up all together.  Thankfully, those days are behind me and I no longer view my self as powerless.

In every minute of any given day, I have the choice to begin again.  I have the power to change plans, ideas, or what I think, say or do.  I just need to be mindful to do one thing at a time rather than taking every thing on at once which ultimately leads to defeat.

When I stay connected to Divine Spirit through contemplation, walking in nature or just by being still, I am guided towards what is best for me.  Through creative visualization, I can imagine what life might look like if I were confident, loving, and spontaneous.  As I adjust my attitude and outlook,  I begin to perceive life as more peaceful and calm.

Being a better self is not the same as striving for perfection which quite frankly would be exhausting.  Being a better self is doing the very best you can at every given moment.  It is taking a breath before a response or pausing prior to an action. (I can hear you now, "I can't waste all that time!")  This leads us to an important point  ... choice.

Opportunity presents itself each and every day for us to improve who we are, but we must be expectant and aware.  When we rush through our day, we miss available synchronicity waiting for us.  When we make the deliberate choice to slow down, magic begins to appear.

So How's That Working Out For You?

The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but your thoughts about it.

                                        Eckhart Tolle
                                 Oneness With All Life

Math, algebra, geometry, and numbers in general have never been my strength.  Somehow I never came up with the right equation, and in many ways this seems to be holding true in my life.

Every year I forewarn my self about the holiday season and how it impacts emotion which in turn triggers responses otherwise never intended to be spoken.  I tell my self to stay in the moment, not to wander into the sadness of the past nor stray into the unknown future.  I know these things to be true and time has taught me these simple precautions are vital.

Today, however, the world of unfairness had broken through my defenses and crowds of questions have rushed in trampling over my carefully placed safe guards.  They are demanding answers and no matter how I link the information, the equations are not coming out satisfactorily.

Fear shakes me so violently, my rose colored glasses fly off and I see nothing but poverty, illness, violence and death.  Instead of seeing the beautiful spirit emanating light from the heart, I see hunger in the belly, and hatred in the eyes.

I return to the safety of solitude and begin to mend the fences trampled down.  I pull my resources around me and begin to read passages of well worn books and journals.  Centering myself, I breathe in loving light and exhale the darkness of fear.  Thoughts, prayers, energy and light restore my sense of balance.

Through creative visualization, I begin to send  love, light, and energy out into the world of pain.  I become a deliberate vessel of light pouring brightness into the world of darkness.  I will hold this space in time for as long as I can, clinging to what I believe to be true and hugging the present moment.

Positive Imaging

Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life;  not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

Khalil Gibran

What we hold in our mind is what develops in our lives.  If we wake up thinking we are going to have a miserable day, then we will have a miserable day.  We may say to ourselves, "I am smart, creative, and caring," but if we spend all day criticizing and minimizing ourselves, which concept do you think will play out?

If we think we are sick, fat, or stupid, our body, mind, and spirit will be happy to perform in just that way.   If we are inconsistent in reflecting our desires to the universe, we are sending conflicting messages and the universe won't know what we want.

We really must endeavor to be more pure in our thoughts and repeat positive affirmations regularly.  When we are continuously nice to our selves, we begin to believe in our worthiness.  We are more able to deflect judgments from others.

When we we wake up of the morning, we can create an image of our selves being happy, productive, and loving.  When we see this image, we begin to feel how it would be and visualize how differently others may treat us.

It is important to carry this positive image of our selves all day long.  At bedtime, we can make a list of all the good things about our day and about our selves.  Then hold the image again while falling asleep.

I believe it was Budhha who said, "The mind is everything.  What you think you become."

Healing Bubbles

  He does not need opium.
He has the gift of reverie.

~Anais Nin

For several days, I have been challenged by a throbbing pain.  I believe in the body, mind, and spirit connection, so safely placed my body in the hands of one of many respected energy worker friends.  She successfully manipulated my body, softly led me into a meditative state, and shared insights from her hands on work.  This experience was quite revealing which is why it is important to be with those you trust.

My body was able to relax on the table while it was being massaged.  Then it widely opened to the energy work at hand.  Guided back through several days, I was able to pin point what action was causing this pain.  Once I recognized the behavior that became the trigger, I was able to go back even farther to see earlier patterns of this behavior.

While visualizing, I saw the cells in my body all cramped and repressed.  I mentally began to separate them and cleanse them, allowing them to float freely.  In doing so, I was reminded of my bubble machine and how much I enjoyed watching bubbles float in the air.  It was easy for me to connect the cleansing of my cells with my love for floating bubbles.

For me, creative visualization or the gift of reverie, is very potent.  I am blessed to be able to see vibrant colors accompanied by what I will call 'knowings' or reflections.  I truly believe that our thoughts when ignored become lodged in our bodies.  When we disregard the beginning of discomfort and continue with our thoughts, the discomfort can stretch into pain, trying to get our attention.

Yes, in truth, I still have pain, but it is most definitely modified.  Once I was able to connect the pain with my action, I felt a release.  Now through contemplation, I can keep going back to root out and understand these actions that cause me pain.  I can also be aware daily to correct the thoughts that trigger this pain.

Energy workers shift our energy that has become blocked by actions, behaviors or trauma.  They balance the body so that the energy can flow in its natural state.  I once again feel peaceful and balanced.  I am deeply grateful for the loving kindness of my friend who so generously shares her gifts with me as well as others.  May the blessings be.

Sweet and Tart

Sit in reverie and watch the changing color of the waves that break upon the idle seashore of the mind.

~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Today is a lovely day by the water.  The lull of the waves, the peace of the gentle breeze, and the sun shining upon my face settle me into my lazy chair.  My toes dig deeply into the warmth of the sand while my eyes gently close in reverie.

It is then that I see you, my friend.  You are sitting on your porch waiting, just waiting for me to pass by.  We happily embrace and eagerly I sink into the waiting chair.  You have made lemonade for us, sweet and tart, just like life can sometimes be.

We sit and chat, laughing at the really big things and crying over some of the little niggling things.  We gently clasp hands, exchanging the 'knowing' that we each share, that our friendship will always endure, and that we will be connected forever more.

Time has passed oh too quickly and it is time I am back on my way.  We hug yet again, promising soon, so soon we will be together again to open our hearts, to share life's burdens, and to chase the darkness away.

The seagull calls to me and I gently open my eyes.  The tide has rolled in and the waves are inches from my edge.  The sun is now resting behind a cloud, and the breeze blows my day dream away.

To Dream of Change

 Dream
and give your self permission
to envision a "YOU"
that you choose to be.

Joy Page

When you are snuggled in the safety of your own bed, you need to give your self a hug of acceptance and love.  You need to stop the words of criticism flowing through your brain and you know exactly the ones I mean.

"You are not good enough!"
"You never do anything right!"
"No one is ever going to love you!"
"If any one ever really knew you ... "

Original words of criticism are words usually spoken to you prior to the age of three.  They are held captive, creating deeper and deeper groves while being played over and over again and collecting other degrading words along the way.  Those words no longer serve you and you need to gently let them go.

Quietly in your bed, you need to focus on a bright light of love, letting it cover us entirely inside and out.  This bright light can be associated with any thing or any one you hold with respect and love.  It can be as simple as a moon beam, sunshine, angels, the light of Christ, or Divine Spirit.  Let this light wash over you, cleansing you of all negative thoughts.

Allow this light to be unconditional love, bathing you in healing energy, and empowering you to dream of a positive life waiting for you.  Feel that you are surrounded by love and the Universe is encouraging you to move forward into the light.

As you dream, see your self dancing in the light, laughing and being happy while surrounded by loved ones.  Let the sense of worthiness fill your being.  Know with all of your heart that you are perfectly capable of accomplishing your dreams.

As your head rests on your pillow, begin to explore what changes are needed for you to proceed.  Imagine what you might want to do that will trigger the beginning of your dream. Start small with your plans, but visualize the entire dream come true.

You must be willing to change, and to be able to over come your resistance.  Know in your heart that everyone deserves happiness and everyone, including yourself, is deeply loved.  Open your heart to possibilities and dream a little dream.  Relax into it.  Give your self permission to think big.  What truly is your desire.

When a dream takes form, hold it in a sacred space in your heart.  Use all of your senses ... feel it, see it, hear it, touch it, and speak of it out loud.  Be aware of Divine Spirit supporting you and wanting you to succeed.  Ask for support and guidance.  Believe that anything, in time, can happen.

You must begin, however.  You must initiate the first steps and then follow through.  You must see your dream every morning and every night.  It is vitally important to think of it at meal times, mid-morning, and afternoon.  The more you can breathe it into being, the stronger it will become, attracting what you need.

Be steadfast, disallowing 'ney sayers' but listening to solid advice that will perpetuate your dream.  Believe change will come.  Stand before a mirror and really, (I mean REALLY), look at yourself.  Love the new you before you.  Imagine with all your heart that the light shining through you is a reflection of love you deserve.

Carry your dream wherever you go, noticing the changes going on around you.  As long as you are working towards goodness without any harm to an other, the light will kindle change within you.

The Way You Look

When you change the way you look at things,
the things you look at change.
The way you perceive things
is an extremely powerful tool
that will allow you to fully
bring the power of intention
into your life.

Wayne Dyer

Like a caterpillar, I have been incubating in a cocoon of darkness for several days.  I am not a very patient person, so when a stream of light slipped through a slight crack in my isolation yesterday, I knew it would not be much longer before my emotional webbing would gently release me.

It seems there are steps we all transition through:  unknowing, awareness, beckoned to action,  and living in the light.   It is a simple configuration that can be applied to many situations.  When there is a presenting problem we are a victim until we realize there actually is a problem.  We stop being a victim when we review our choices and take action on at least one.  The movement towards correction empowers us and we then have the courage to move forward.  This being accomplished we feel ourselves living a better life.  There seems to be hope.

A mentor of mine saw all things biblical as symbols and templates. He believed the number three to be highly significant in diverse ways.  So he encouraged me to be present with a problem for three days without worry, judgment, or thoughts of outcome.  When I can be still, stay in the moment, and let the three days pass, there always seems to be an appropriate resolution waiting for me.  Emotions are balanced and energies are restored.

As a human being, however, I 'know' these things, but I simply forget.   I get caught up in the drama and the emotion then freeze, losing all ability to apply what I know to be true.  This is part of the process of transitioning.  It is symbolized by the spiral, as we continuously cycle in and out of experiences, learning the lessons we need to know.

I find myself telling friends to be gentle with themselves, to keep resources in place, and to nurture their souls.  As I offer these words to others, I hear my inner voice saying, "Are you listening to this?"

Wayne Dyer is a favorite author and presenter of mine.  I have been aware of him since 1967 and have enjoyed watching him unfold.  He has stayed true to his spiritual path, helping thousands of others along the way.  He encourages us to use perception as a tool and to keep our intentions pure.

Creative visualization enables us to do just that.  If we mentally see ourselves being spiritually powerful, embracing diversity, and receiving the joys of life, our life will unfold more gracefully than not.  We are less likely to be pulled into someone else's drama, become unbalanced, and lose our way.

If our intention is clear and we remain mindful, we are frequently supported by synchronicity and magical moments.  If we get up in the morning and say, "Wow!  This is going to be a great day," the intention usually holds true.  We know the reverse is true as well.

There are so many surprise happenings in life when we hold our perceptions and intentions in place.  Think of all of the 'accidental' meetings that occur that lead us right where we need to be.

Perceptions can be altered by previous unfortunate experiences and we must be certain to not let negative memories taint present opportunities.  What you see is what you get.  What you think becomes reality.

I have been trapped in a cocoon by a false perception in a current situation.  It took three days for me to alter my perception and set a concise and clear intention.  Today I can navigate through my day like the flight of a butterfly!

A Personal Fortress

Each of us in our own way, has constructed a personal fortress to protect our self from the harsh world into which we found ourselves thrown.  To survive, we prostituted ourselves in some way.  We sold out on who we are and denied what we are here to do.  We made compromises with our integrity, said yes when we meant to say no, and gave ourselves in ways that demeaned our sacred gifts.  Some of us even came to believe that defense and denial were all that life was about, leaving us to wonder why we are even here.

Meanwhile the tender child within us lives.  The innocent, trusting being has survived all of the holocausts, and rests secure in a harbor untouchable by the winds of outer change.  The child did not die;  she or he just took refuge until it was safe to come out again.  Place that child in an environment of trust and love, and watch it come to life.  There is no greater joy than to reclaim the tendersness of innocence.

I HAD IT ALL THE TIME
Alan Cohen

For some who read this, tears will be shed while others may only feel a slight resonance to the meaning of these words.  Nevertheless, we are all called to lay down our sword and to remove our armor.  It is time.  It is time to let the past go.

We all have an inner child in need of nurturing.  We can talk to that child who was once left unprotected and affirm now as an adult, we will personally protect and unconditionally love her or him.  Something we could not do earlier in our lives.

During creative visualization, incredible work has been done. Documentation reflects there are those who find their inner child to be very vocal and angry to have been ignored for so long.  Some people have seen themselves interacting with their inner child: rocking in a chair, reading stories, or singing to soothe frayed nerves.  One woman visualized giving her inner child a cleansing bath and then taking her outside to play in the sunshine after being hidden within for so long.  Another brought their inner self into a garden of vibrant flowers allowing the child to pick a bouquet.

Hindsight provides all types of wisdom, but in the present moment we simply did not have this knowledge or we would have acted entirely different. There is a saying I find to be very healing. You did the best you could do at the time with the information you had.

In life, there seems to be either good or poor choices and sometimes the good choices turn out to be mediocre and questionable choice may turn out to be a stoke of genius.  How do we ever know?

It is hard to lay down your armor and sword after being a warrior in life, but it is a wise and worthy choice.  It is frightening to stand without protection as vulnerability is most uncomfortable.  Take some deep breaths and welcome life in.  Step out of the fortress and create your heart's desire!

Alignment ...

maps

"there is no map.
you gotta write your own.
you gotta carve your own.
you gotta sweat, cry, grieve, laugh
and love your own.
and when you are all done,
that's all that will have mattered."

Bone Sigh Arts

Life could have been so much easier if we had been born with a personal navigation system. It could be advanced, of course, indicating not only what roads to take, but which relationships to cultivate, what schools to attend or employment to choose, and preventive health measures. Maybe in addition to a voice directing us, there could be bells and whistles to indicate when we were veering off course. Yes, maybe there could be some programmed affirmations rather than just hearing a woman say, "recalculating" after we've missed the turn.

Navigational systems are simply a reflection of how our culture relies upon outside sources. Information must be gathered for furthering mankind. Input from others is valuable to test and redefine theories. I have deep respect for the power of research providing understanding, application and advancement. However, all must be tempered by the guidance and insight we can receive from within ... harm no one.

We do have an internal navigation system. It is the voice inside of us, guiding us if we would but listen. The little voice of big wisdom has been called various things for endless generations: intuition, gut feelings, angels, or Divine Intervention.

Navigating through life, I have of course used available resources, but how many times have I said, "I should have followed my gut!" There are many memories of following some one else's advice only to later learn how it ultimately advanced their purpose and not my own. Instances can be recalled when I was so strong willed that I ignored my own inside voice in addition to the educated voices of others. (Note to self: trip didn't go so well!)

Tears and laughter as well as loss and gain are all an integral part of living this physical life. One unfortunately needs to know the one in order to appreciate the other. If we trust our inner guidance, however, we still experience difficult situations, but without the deeper drama and tearing of the soul.

During this time of my life, I find it vital for my body, mind and spirit to be aligned. In order for me to navigate around curves in the road, climb steep hills, and travel through seemingly unlit passage ways, I must feel inside all things resonating in relation to my purpose and kindness to others. Alignment makes for a much smoother ride!

The Door of This Home

May the door of this home be wide enough
to receive all who hunger for love,
all who are lonely for friendship.

May it welcome all who have cares to unburden,
thanks to express, hopes to nurture.

May the door of this house be narrow enough
to shut out pettiness and pride, envy and enmity.

May this threshold be no stumbling block
to young and strained feet.

May it be too high to admit to complacency,
selfishness and harshness.

May this home be for all who enter,
the doorway to richness and a more meaningful life.

The Siddur of Shir Chadash

This writing is offered to encourage you to experience nature with an open mind.  Being out in nature, in a sense for some, is like being welcomed home.  It is a place where all burdens can be temporarily set down upon the ground or blown away in the wind.  The distractions of animals ease your mind into calm.  Other aspects of nature such as snow, flowers, little buds on bushes or leafing trees stir a sense of rebirth within your spirit.  Breathing in the crisp air, you can feel refurbished while your body physically stretches itself with rekindled energy.

Dreams and Desires

What we can do and want to do is projected in our imagination, quite outside ourselves, and into the future. We are attracted to what is already ours in secret. Thus passionate anticipation transforms what is indeed possible into dreamt-for reality.
  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
                (1749 - 1832)

Many believe that God has a plan for us before we feel the desire.  Once we become aware of a desire, we begin to visualize how this dream might come true.  The crisp image supported by positive thinking, projects out into the Universe where things very well may begin to draw together.

There are words like synchronicity, fate, destiny, chance or accidental meetings reflecting the unseen networking provided by Divine.  We take our seat on an airplane and discover the person sitting next to us is looking to fill a position in his office ... the very kind of employment you are dreaming about.  You casually mention to a friend a particular need, and she excitedly tells you how her neighbor is capable of the very solution.  An associate mentions a book of poems and your interest is piqued.  You begin searching for the old collection of poems but cannot find it anywhere.  While talking with your grandfather your eyes wander to his desk and there sits the very book of poems you have been searching for.

Divine Spirit is like a great Amazon.com out in the Universe.  Perhaps there are some angels sit and google all day, looking for the exact connections we need.  Then other angels appear linking us to their discovered resources. (This is my sense of humor.)

So be careful what you wish for, where you place your focus, and what degree you pay attention to the world around you.  Explore possibilities to begin to connect the dots so you will not be the 'missing link' to your own future.

Through the Eyes of the Innocent Child

Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

- Oren Arnold

With child like innocense, we can easily observe the magic of the season.  Some of us are more comfortable using the term synchronicity for the impecable timing of people, places, and things coming together with an unexpected and unexplainable connection.

With our heart open, we are available to more experiences with friends, neighbors and strangers.  It is during this holiday season that we are more apt to greet others with a warm smile or a gesture of kindness.

When we have been emotionally or physically wounded, we have the tendency to protect ourselves from further harm.  We may hide behind imaginary armor not realizing we are robbing ourselves of the experience of sincere and honest relationship.  The armor keeps others 'out', but also keeps our pain in.  We can be stubborn like a child.

When we view experiences through the eyes of the innocent child, the holidays can be more playful.  Forgiving and tolerating friends and family tends to be easier and leads to healing.  To serve others by giving of our personal time or financial support creates a stronger sense of dignity and integrity within us.  When we assist others, we also help our selves.

The holidays can be a very challenging time which opens the door to opportunity for deep cleansing and release.  We can begin to prepare our welcoming for genuine love and acceptance in the new year.  Activate artistic expression and visualization through the eyes of the innocent child.

A Simple Thought ...

We keep moving forward,
opening new doors and
doing new things
because we're curious and
curiosity keeps leading us
down new paths.

Walt Disney

A simple thought can trigger imagination and explode with creativity.  If the idea is lavished with vibrant color, plush texture, and rich emotion,  the possibilities are endless!  If we do not support the original thought,  however, it will simply float away.

In the book, MANIFESTING CHANGE by Mike Dooley, a great deal of emphasis is placed on "thoughts becoming things".  The book encourages the use of creative visualization as an exercise in perpetuating your creative ideas or desires.

These are Mike Dooley's Six Guidelines to Creative Visualization:
  1. Visualize once a day.
  2. Visualize no longer than five to ten minutes at at time.
  3. Imagine every conceivable detail.
  4. Feel the emotion.
  5. Put yourself in the picture.
  6. Dwell from the end result - or beyond.
"When visualizing, go to the finished picture, where your dream has already come true," states Mike Dooley. This point is very vital.  You must act as though the visualization has already manifested.  All of your senses must be attuned with the vision being real.

For example, let us create the desire to be vacationing at the ocean...

Sitting comfortably, breathe in and out slowly and relax, while you close your eyes.

In your mind's eye, see a beach and place as much detail in the picture as you can, like birds in the sky or shells being washed up on the shore.

Listen to the roar of the waves, or the movement of the tree branches while you feel the sand warm beneath your feet.

(Be certain to place your self in the picture!)

Feel your body relaxing in a lounge chair, holding a nice cold drink in your hand.

Taste the delicious drink circulating in your mouth.

Fill this imaginary scene with emotions as though it were all happening right in this very moment.  Make it as real as you possibly can.

By vibrantly repeating this imagery as part of a daily routine, intentions are sent out into the Universe.  By taking actions towards a goal, the support of the Universe is attracted.

  A NOTE FROM THE UNIVERSE

Did you know that whenever you think
a brand new thought,
however fleeting,
there are switches flicked here?
Buttons pressed?
Levers thrown?
Banners unfurled?
Wheels turned?
Hats tipped?
Winks winked?
Angels sent?
Connections made and conga lines formed?

For starters.

You wouldn't even believe me if I told you
what happens when you visualize.

Yeah, a lot a lot.
The Universe
