The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music
In my solitude, I turn out the lights one by one, allowing my flame to appear brighter. It is tears, however, that I feel rushing down the inner walls of my being. I am certain if I would open my mouth to speak, great sobs of sorrow would come rushing out.
These last hours I have spent watching THE SOLIST starring Jaime Foxx and Robert Downey, Jr which was based on a true story written by journalist Steven Lopez of the Los Angeles Times. Sadly, it reflects a world of poverty, homelessness, brilliance and mental illness with a dash of abhorrent social intervention.
As I lie awake with seeping emotions there is no place for my sorrow. My presence is keenly aware of the overlooked strength residing in each human being regardless of gender, race or any other indications of identity. I feel apologetic to Divine Spirit for the unleashed ego of man, lacking human decency.
