Pull of Engagement

"If a painting or drawing or photograph seduces me into a journey
that leads inside the mind and emotions of the artist, I can be
carried away by what compelled them too.'
Jacob Nordby

If a particular piece of art peaks our curiosity, and we allow ourselves to be open to the depth of the  work, we can find ourselves led upon a journey the artist had traveled as well. It matters not if we are referring to a painter or an author or a musician.  If our attention is grabbed, there is more to follow.

We do not always understand the creator of a project, but the ones who 'speak' to us through their work are individuals we will find our selves following.  We attach ourselves to the style, the format, the technique and we long for more.  This is not true if we cannot relate.  We will unplug, turn away or put down the book.  We will not find the pull of engagement.

Once we are attracted to a certain artist, a bond is formed linking us to the story being presented.  Our attention is often required time and time again, luring us into more depth than what meets the eye.  Either books or paintings have layers upon layers waiting to be discovered.  A lasting reflection will nestle within as the patron searches for more.
