Fading Quietly Away

"Be proud of the incredible person that you are ... and
become a rainbow in someone's cloudy day."
Nyki Mack

A favorite prank in a large city is pressing all of the doorbells in the vestibule at the same time and then running away.  Apartment dwellers never could see the small children fleeing, nor could they hear the hearts pounding with glee.

Perhaps the prankster still resides within me, as I love to do things anonymously.  It could be leaving the book I just read in a public washroom or dropping money into an unattended purse.  Then trickier challenges like assisting in an unexpected accident, then fading completely away.

It is joyful to do things without any strings attached.  There are no embarrassing moments of accepting meaningful compliments, especially when that was never the motivation.  It lifts my spirits to know I can make a difference in an unsuspecting life without depending upon political connections, religious dogma, or any other affiliation other than just being me ... and fading quietly away.
