"People are impacted and affected
through a moment of shared witnessing."
Krista Tipplett
There are times we feel unseen walking upon this earth. Numerous times, however, this is not completely true. A woman up in her apartment may be watching you push to complete a run or the man watering his lawn might be aware of the struggling child learning how to ride the bike. There could be a senior staff member who especially likes your style and unbeknownst to you, he is tracking your career.
The same is true for our words, especially with cell phones. In a store, our words carry. An unknowing woman spoke into her cell, "Well actually I am in the middle of a meeting right now." Then she looked up, saw me standing next to her viewing items on the shelf and overhearing her lie.
A bird may never know we hear the morning song being sung. The crying infant may never know how it deeply moved us into memory. The chalk drawing on the sidewalk may have given a child enormous pleasure, but never be aware of how delighted adults were to see the work. Everything that happens, whether seen or heard, connects to other people, places, and things.
