"The first time I called myself a 'Witch' was the most magical moment of my life."
Margot Adler
As a child, there were lots of distractions on Halloween. We tried to decide who or what we wanted to be while carving the family pumpkin. We tried to sway the decision making on what kind of treat would come from our door. Witches were flying around, sure, but not in the ghoulish creepy way of today. More like the Wizard of Oz style.
History shares the killing of women name-called witches. Burned at the stake for educating themselves in nature by somehow threatened men. As the voices of women grew, culture began to respect and copy that which was learned so long ago. Witches are like anything else: the good, the bad and the ugly.
In terrible moods we may be labeled as a witch while having some sort of melt down. Then when creating magic when faced with precarious circumstances, we might just be the good witch. Which witch is which? Choose to be kind no matter what label befalls us. Believe the self to be magical and have a happy Halloween!
