"Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life."
Mary Oliver
We may have dreams and intentions, but life tends to have a playbook of its own. Where we may be adventurous and lofty, existence can demand we remain stationary where we are without any indication as to what may unfold. We may feel manipulated by unseen forces, held steadfast without any sense of control.
Physical wildness without responsibility may eventually be replaced with inner wild imaginations. Dreamscapes may replace reality, but our need to wander may never be replaced. Unexpectedly, we hear the quiet inquisitive voice asking who we are and what exactly do we want to do.
We may have our life plan well documented, but there are no guarantees that agendas will unfold as we had hoped. Sometimes the outcome is highly disappointing, and yet it may turn out to be a dream come true. As years pass, we discover that many lives can be lived within one lifetime. The point, perhaps, is to remember what is and what will be precious.
