The Womb ...

"Wonder begins in the womb of a woman."
Lailah Gifty Akita

There are those who remember being in the womb, and of course they may not readily share that with you. Can you imagine how warm and safe that space may have felt? Is it that experience that we repeatedly seek in human form? Perhaps this is where the heart began its curious speculation of divine purpose in forthcoming life.

It is no wonder why babies scream their heads off when they are strangely propelled into bright light, cold air, and strange surroundings. As soon as possible, they are wrapped in a cotton blanket providing an element of comfort. And is that what we spend our lives seeking ... a blanket providing a sense of safety?

When we are faced with trauma and chaos, do we not fold into fetal positions? Is there some built in memory of the perceived safety in the womb? In spite of the glory in physical form, overwhelm drives us inward seeking security. Coiled in a blanket do we mentally crave space where we did not breathe air? Makes one wonder ...
