"Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again."
Joseph Campbell
In my very early years, I regularly attended mass in a Roman Catholic Church even though I was Lutheran. It is where I fell in love with stained glass, candles, and intimate connections with the Divine. The atmosphere during the sacredness of ritual, captivated my heart and reassured my frightened soul.
Since that time, I have visited numerous churches, temples, and Godly gatherings. There is joy in finding Divine Spirit throughout diverse practices ... one God many people. My faith is established in my heart not my mind. Lessons are available beyond my limited perceptions and lackadaisical practices.
As I inventory my private space, there are stained glass lamps, numerous candles, rows of books, and calming music ... all attachments established in early religious experiences. My sacred space, however, is not located in just one place. It is in my heart, behind my eyelids, or in the midst of trees where I can discover myself again and again.
