Rescued by Resources

"To see what few have seen,
you must go where few have gone."

Feeling rather small today, I decided to look up some favorite quotes.  I removed two books from one of my book shelves.  They were:  THE BOOK OF AWAKENING by Mark Nepo and A DEEP BREATH OF LIFE by Alan Cohen.  Both of these books are heavily high lighted as each time I read through either one of them, I find something new reaching out to me.  I hear things I have read previously in an all together different voice.

As I browsed through both of these books, I was sincerely amazed at the brilliance of not only Nepo and Cohen, but of the inspiration to be found in the words of so many others.  Both of these authors refer to ancient wisdom from the East as well as poets, scientists, and philosophers from over the centuries.  There is a broad range of insight bringing hope, support, and encouragement to the reader.  Spending any length of time with either or both of these books will definitely shift perspectives, attitudes, and opinions.

The reader is uplifted as the pages turn and a connection is formed.  One realizes that in order for someone to write words so parallel to how we feel, they, too, must have experienced similar situations.  There is comfort in knowing that others have worked through barriers and have arrived safely on the other side.  Somehow we do not feel so totally alone.

I believe it is important for all of us to either go on line or to a library or book store and discover a writer who is inspirational or conversational making a connection with our inner self.  There are so many resources, but one must exit the grips of sadness and persevere out into life to find a remedy.  One must help her self or his self.  It is the first step towards reward.
