"It's never overreacting to ask for what you want and need."
Amy Poehler
The intention of Christmas is to bring happiness and joy. We may wear festive attire, attend social gatherings, additional church events, and enjoy caroling. Therse are all physical aspects of the season, what of the emotional? Even with the happiest family gathered around a tree, tears escape the hollows of the soulful eyes.
Christmas, the happiest time of the year triggers memories, wounds, losses, and fear. We keep our dark thoughts snuggled in our heads while a bright smile stretches across our face. ('Tis the season to keep things hidden.) We cannot prevent shadows from surfacing, but we can be wise and reach out to a friend to express what is heavy in our heart.
We need to remain open and monitor the depth of our own feelings. On cold gloomy days, when we are visited by tears, light a candle and play music of good cheer. Be a good friend to yourself by taking time for reflection with your favorite hot tea. We must heavily nurture that beautiful inner you!
