"Christmas is not as much about opening our presents
as opening our hearts."
Janice Maeditere
Christmas is not about how many feet we have under our table or how high gifts are stacked. This is the season to focus upon giving and not about receiving. How much we spend is not the issue. Love extended from our heart has more value and long-term effect than frivolous giving.
There is a mother who makes individual donations to organizations where her adult children once volunteered. She tucks the printed receipt into his or her Christmas stocking as their gift. A family designates time to visit a shelter to volunteer with numerous needs of the facility. Young parents have their children choose one of their gifts to be given to children in temporary housing. Individuals loving to bake, bring goodies to the homeless.
Whether we choose a professional or private gesture, the art is in the giving. Someone once impacted us with selfless compassion and the reward of passing it on now, creates special feelings. The Spirit of Christmas can be shared by everyone and for everyone. As unique individuals, we can choose numerous ways to share.
