"I usually know almost exactly how I feel.
The problem is, I just can't tell anyone."
Meg Cabot
An invitation to tea at an acquaintance's home, surprised me. I was curious if anyone else would be there and what the driving force behind this could be. Warmly welcomed into the home, I quickly realized I was the only one participating. We settled in and fixed our tea. I held my heart open, waiting for her to take lead.
Psychology teaches us that each person can react in diverse ways to the same situation. What they see, hear, experience and internalize can be drastically different from others. We also learn from Psychology that each person processes a situation differently. Some may never release internal stress which can lead to dis-ease.
As I sipped my tea, I observed tears running down the cheeks of my hostess. I remained quiet and gave her space. In time, her painful story tumbled out with every emotion imaginable, but then peace spread across her face. It doesn't matter who we disclose our story to, but it does matter that we get it outside of ourselves ... tea or no tea.
