Symbols of Transformation

"Let there be peace on earth and
let it begin with me."
Seymour Miller

When I catch a glimpse of a deer from spring through fall, my heart races but my body remains perfectly still. I watch how peacefully they move with silent awareness and guidance. I hold my heart open whispering, "I shall not hurt you," while I cover this creature with love, light and prayer.

There is something about witnessing a deer that empowers me. They appear to be both strong and gentle. They contribute to folklore and magical fantasies. They are majestically present at Christmas time with ribbons and bells yet never vying for attention or praise. They live proudly as a member of a team.

In the winter I freeze when one suddenly appears. In this stillness, I watch them innocently follow his or her pathway seemingly so trusting. Symbolically, these magnificent creatures portray transformation throughout the seasons of life. I yearn for them to experience peace on earth, and it's going to take a lot more humans than just me.
