Expanding and Contracting

Both the Winter and Summer Solstices are expressions of love.  They show
us the opposition of light and dark, expansion and contraction,
that characterizes our experiences in the Earth school
so that we can recognize our options as we move
through our lives.

We cycle through life in rotation, expanding and then contracting.  We experience highs and then dip into periods of low.  At times we feel illustriously bright while during others, disturbingly dark.  Round and round we go, challenged by experiences for lessons to be learned.

The summer solstice brings us longer days, offering lengthier stretches of daylight.  As the sun encourages nature to be at its best, we too respond to the surrounding radiant growth.  Our spirits are more easily lifted by fragrances, colors, and the endurance to thrive through rains and storms.

As the world spins around us, we can embrace what unfolds or resist the inevitable.  If we have rigid boundaries, the forces of nature may be stronger than necessary.  Let us be alert to recognize instantly when we are being taught, and unfold with the experience in a gentle way rather than fighting all odds.
