Loneliness Falling to the Side

"Loneliness does not come from having no people around you,
but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you."
Carl Jung

Observing body language and listening to what is and what is not being said can be quite revealing. One couple has engaged with others in a lively conversation, except every time the woman starts to speak, the man shouts right over her. Across the room, a woman stops to chat with a friend while her significant other sighs deeply in annoyance.

And then there is the life of the party, laughing, flirting and sashaying around the room. If one looks closely enough, however, the dark loneliness lingering in her eyes is difficult to miss.  Her clothes may be flashy and jewelry beyond compare, but one can easily sense her depths of despair.

Loneliness is the result of not exploring ways to nurture and meet our own needs. Time spent by our lovely selves is imperative to identifying what we want and how we feel. If we cultivate our personal discoveries and articulate them, we will thrive! When we have the courage to be seen and heard, loneliness falls to the side.
