"When good befalls you be thankful,
and when harm befalls you ... be patient."
Hazrat Ali
It is said that how we experience early life subtly colors adult emotional landscapes. If we felt safe surrounded by kindness, our expectations might have been much the same. If we were raised in a dysfunctional home, we may have distorted trust issues. Either way, life is not fair, and our journey will be anything but smooth.
At a very young age, we are encouraged to join groups, participate in gatherings and create best friends. How different emotional growth would be if we were encouraged to be our own best friend. Imagine being praised for both character and skill, developing a strong sense of self. We would believe we could conquer the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Life throws curve balls and destinations can be dead end. The will to configure issues and venture into creative applications with perseverance, determines how well we address the mystery of life. With patience, we will see our way through. With a thankful heart, we will embrace the sacredness of others.
