"Everyone needs some help learning who they already are.
That's the root of genuine education and the task of real culture."
Michael Meade
Throughout life, we encounter people who offer us insight into our motivations or actions. Comments can trigger our sense of self whether in a positive or negative way. They may come out of nowhere ... overheard conversation, passage in a book, or introspection. Whether or not we choose to listen is key to advancement.
We walk our path alone but continuously interact with others which challenges and reenforces. We require private time for personal growth, but outsiders are often our teachers. It is through this alternating pattern of private and community that we rediscover who we are and what is meant to be.
If we do not appreciate ourselves, then it is time for deep dives of exploration. There is no purpose in remaining stagnant, so reach out for stimulation. There can be a cycle of acquiring new insights, applying them, and presenting a new sense of self. The process is about trial and error and we do not achieve it alone.
