Choice: David or Goliath

"Goliath was the best thing
that ever happened to David."
Carla Lynne Hall, THE BALLET COMPANION

Upon returning home from work, years ago, I would notice the light on my answering machine indicating I had a phone message.  Frequently, it would be an abbreviated message such as, "Goliath is back!"   Instantly, I knew my long time friend was in need of creating a plan.  I would wait until the late evening hours to call her back, when the long distance rates went down.  We would laugh, discuss and solve.  After a few days, I would see the light on my machine blinking again and it would be her saying, "David won!"

All of us have a Goliath in our lives creating concern, fear perhaps, and the ultimate goal of change.  He is an opportunity to gather our strengths and go with what we have and not fabricate or over extend our abilities.  We are stronger than we imagine!

The longer we string Goliath along, the worse the scenario grows.  Avoidance and fear can dwindle away our best defense, resulting in losing the battle.  Instead, we can survey our wheelhouse and choose our best defense in order to fully experience being David.
