Behind the Door

"A door opens in the center of our being
and we seem to fall through it into the immense
depths which, although they are infinite,
are all accessible to us."
Thomas Merton

The term 'darkness' conjures thoughts of negativity such as black magic or sorcery.  It can also prod some into thinking about depression or being lost.  The very word 'dark' has been contrasted to the word 'light' in a competition of choice rather than an embracing of difference.

Dark is simply the other side of light, and as our past hides in the dark shadows there is nothing to fear.  If we allow our selves to gently gather our light and bring it into the darkness, we can see what it is we fear.  Our options then are to reclaim, heal, and or release.

When we step past the fear and open the door of darkness, we can learn to adapt or adjust.  Just because something is buried deeply does not mean we shall be condemned if exposed.  If we but open the door, sometimes the light flows in so easily, we begin to see new opportunities waiting to be discovered.
