Inclement Predictions

"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things,
but just look what they can do when they stick together."
Vesta M. Kelly

There is something so peaceful about watching snow gently fall. The flakes look so innocent and humble, just like ourselves when we are first born. Intriguing when we think how each snowflake is unique, like we are individualistic as well. This white fluff can be creatively scooped into varying images, similar to the way we create personas.

The innocence of snow is temporary as when it is shoveled to the curb, it soaks up black liquid debris. The evening temps drop and the cold hardens this substance, turning it into slippery and icy mess. The morning warmth then melts it into a disgusting slush. Unless, of course, it forms shapes together.

Our hearts, so pure and humble go through similar sequences. Misfortune taints our  innocence and often dismantles life as we have known it. We can shape shift into ice or   melt into a very hot mess. The difference is our ability to prepare for inclement predictions and create appropriate shelters.

Freezing

"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things,
but just look what they can do when they stick together."
Vesta M. Kelly

Watching snowflakes delicately fall from the sky, some are dancing while others are simply floating.  There are those who rest upon an extended branch from a tree, while others knowingly shift to form a blanket spreading across the ground.

This process is so like my thoughts.  They are created by emotions often freezing in my brain.  Some linger in dark  hidden places, but when I am strong enough to simply let go, they are absorbed and melted by the grounding of my soul.

How warmly I choose to embrace this secluded winter day. It opens before me, offering a safe haven for my wandering mind.  Fear falls away as love assures me I am safe. As my thoughts gather together, they form an inner knowing delicately woven with grace.

It Aught to Be ...

"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but
just look what they can do when they stick together."

Ice covered the pavements and then a light dust of snow. A day later four inches of beautiful snowflakes gently fell to the ground.  As I tried to individualize each flake, I became mesmerized by their grace and delicacy.

This white fluff has stirred the child within the housed adults.  They have taught the children how to make snow angels and then snowmen.  Neighbors gathered together taking turns manning the sleds skidding down the steep street into the cul-de-sac.

As if the COVID virus hasn't held us still enough, this lathering of ice and snow has sealed the  neighborhood.  Families have shared sleds, borrowed eggs or milk, and exchanged laughter.  The lovely spirit of snow has joined these common dwellers with peace and calm, as it aught to be.
