ABOUT TO SNAP!

Everything is changing.
People are taking their comedians seriously
and the politicians as a joke.

Will Rogers

Although I have varied interests, politics is not one of them.  I am a registered voter and remain conscientious about the privilege.  I confess to being opinionated about several things, but most generally I keep a low profile.
During dinner preparation the news was on and the reporting was going in one ear and out the other.  The topic was same sex marriage.  I am quite familiar with this topic and I have very clear vision of how I regard this issue.   But wait ... what did the educated politician just say?
"The purpose of marriage is for procreation so no one over the age of 55 needs to be married."
So the insinuation would be same sex partners if over the age of 55 don't need to be married as they would be too old to procreate?  This offensive and embarrassing statement was followed by various photographs and statistics of same sex partners adopting and providing safe and nurturing homes.   So would the intention be that no one over 55 should be married based on the assumption they cannot procreate?
This is an opinion I have not heard before and I hope I will never hear it again.  We are all entitled to our own views, but perhaps some more than others need to be kept private.  I have found this comment to be totally inappropriate and appalling for all peoples of all races, religions, genders and ages.  Really, I am about to SNAP!

What Else Is In My Future?

On self-care:
If you put yourself on the back burner,
you may get burnt ... or burn out.

Karen McMillan

It is a beautiful day in my neighborhood!  The sun is out, there is a slight breeze with comfortable temperatures.  My kind of day!  There is a walk in my future.

What else is in my future?  If I took to heart all of the political mud slinging in the media, I'd run to a cave in never never land.  I do believe we all can be realistic without the gloom and doom or shall we say the 'fear factor'.  The on going conflicts, criticisms, and verbal attacks can wear me down to the point of  concern as to where all of this negative energy is spinning!

In my own little world, I wonder how we will ever attain world peace when two perspective leaders cannot even be peaceful towards each other.  I do not feel as though any of my personal actions would impact this situation.  This leaves me to ponder what it is that I can do.

I must learn to live peacefully in the midst of the chaos.  I use what is available to me to extend peace out into the world.  Through energy work, prayer, and acts of kindness, every day people can change the tone of our communities.  We can touch the lives of others offering hope that goodness will prevail.

If we sit back thinking there is nothing we can do, we only add to the negativity.  If we place our good intentions on the back burner, we may just get burnt!
