"Writing sets things straight,
giving us a sense of our true priorities."
Julia Cameron
Thanksgiving has yet to arrive, and yet, there are Christmas decorations everywhere. As we face the holidays, numerous triggers activate emotions. There may be a family elder absent this year, an adult child not coming home for the first time or life circumstances keeping us alone. Anxiety begins to stir in various parts of the body.
Writing is a way of using our voice, especially when we do not want others to hear our anger, sorrow or frustration. Words can be splayed across the page without need for editing or censorship. As emotions flow, we may be surprised at the truth being uncovered and displayed.
When we express ourselves upon the page, it can be saved, discarded or even burned. It is a safe space where we can articulate how something is unfolding and conversely, how we would rather it be. Released negative energy assists us in becoming centered, resulting in healthier choices
