"May the joy of simple things color the canvas of your soul."
Nancy Womeldorff Calkins
As a child, drawing on the sidewalk with colored chalk was exciting while playing hide and seek was the ultimate. As an adult, we can fill empty spaces with the same element of entertainment. Afterall, we are referring to creative expression and discovery. Anything worth enjoying is worth the hunt.
Browse in a used bookstore and discover a topic never before explored. Visit a thrift store and choose a vase to be filled with lingering garden flowers. Then drop by the craft store and rediscover an old passion such as drawing, coloring, knitting, or jigsaw puzzles. Open to possibilities that will rekindle the spirit.
There are a variety of simple pleasures waiting for us to discover. Watch a cooking show and make a treat to be shared with friends or neighbors. Dig out an old notebook and jot down things that once intrigued and renew the pursuit. And let us not forget the simplicity of nature. Fall is the perfect time to just let the self unfold.
