"When you read a book, you hold another's mind in your hand."
James Burke
In third grade, I received my first library card. and I have been a card carrier ever since. Fiction was a long-standing escape from childhood and then later it provided me with endless diversity. College cultivated my non-fictional authors who nurtured my passion for understanding both myself and others.
Eclectic authors captivated me, and soon I would create my very own library. Delving into my own writing practice, I needed resources at my fingertips. Books became dear friends and teachers who I could spend hours with. Subjects were endlessly reshaping and cultivating my body, mind, and spirit.
While the local library meets my fictional needs, I tend to purchase non-fictional resources. This allows highlighting, writing in the margins, and freely revisiting savored phrases. Books become gurus readily at my fingertips. I am definitely a reflection of what I read, and this is why I entertain a multitude of diverse authors.
