"As the days drift slowly into autumn,
may we learn the art of letting go."
Spirit of a Hippie
Fall is my most favorite time of the year. I am intrigued by leaves changing colors, temperatures dropping and everything pumpkin and apple. There is nothing like an evening campfire whether mesmerized alone or reminiscing with trusted neighbors and friends. It is a peaceful time for me, clothed in flannel, boots and jeans.
The atmosphere of autumn impacts my inner routines as well. I am drawn to lighting candles, for no reason at all. Settled in my favorite chair, wrapped in my old quilt, my hand moves with ease sharing thoughts across my journal's page. Perhaps it is the simmering pace of this season, that stimulates careful introspection.
Just as the leaves turn colors and slowly fall from the trees, my thoughts take on the grace of gently letting go. As the leaves seemingly swirl and dance to the ground, I am encouraged to release that which matters no more. No need for anger or judgment, just a simple release chanting, "thank you, but no more".
