Happy Feet!

"Joy reminds me to be where my feet are."
Alex Elle

The directions sound so simple ... align the mind with the feet. Some of our lofty visions, however, are racing far ahead to areas where it is doubtful our footsteps will ever follow. Then past memories cloud our mind paralyzing our stance. The majority of the time, we are unaware of the connection between our thoughts and where the feet may lead.

Desires materialize and if we have a plan reflecting action, the possibility of steady flow increases. When we allow fear to intercept our efforts or entertain too many desires at one time, our feet become confused as to exactly which direction they are meant to go. It is imperative to stay in the moment.

The term, 'Happy Feet' depicts a state of mind where we are filled with happiness and bursting with energy to engage with this state of joy.  If we do not, however, mindfully proceed through action, the ecstatic opportunity dissipates. During this chaotic time in our world, we must grasp spontaneous joy in this given moment and let our feet dance!

Right Before You

"The power of gratitude lies in celebrating the
peak moments and finding solace in the valleys,
where lessons and strength await."
Alex Elle

Have you ever wandered around the house in search of your keys, knowing they are right in front of you? You can sense they are near, but for whatever reason, you simply are not seeing them. This is the very same scenario with gratitude. It is right before you, but you simply  overlook it.

When you are mindful of the small things sprinkled throughout your day, a gentle connection grows stronger. You begin to notice the sun's reflection or a bird in flight or the fragrance of freshly baked bread. When you react with gratitude, the bond with life strengthens and lifts your spirit.

Keeping a gratitude journal, maintains your awareness of the the positive aspects surrounding you. It can be a compass constantly reminding you of daily small blessings. Gratitude is a way of thanking the Universe for the ray of sunshine, the smell of rain, and the gently falling leaves. The yearning to belong is addressed by expressing your gratitude.

Sarcastic Slaps!

"The healed version of me recognizes and honors
the unhealed version of you."
Alex Elle

We may offer tender hearted words, but get sarcastic slaps in return.  As we place our best steps forward, we may get stomped upon. We then spiral fiercely, examining what "we" did wrong.  How in the world were our best intentions misunderstood?

If we can remain mindful of our personal truth, it becomes easier to distinguish what we should or should not own. When we recognize a person is choosing to react out of his or her own issues, we can choose to gently be present without engaging.

Inner peace becomes more substantial as we learn to stand in our own truth. We become grateful for increased personal healing which continuously unfolds. Our perception of life softens and our energies are no longer drained by unnecessary negativity.

Acquiesce No More!

"I made shrinking myself a habit because it
was safer than showing up fully."
Alex Elle

Acquiesce, what a wonderful word! It means to give in without protest. It is what we do, a caving in of sorts, rather than mustering energy to disagree. When we have been worn down or  lose sight of our true nature, we acquiesce.

We are misled into thinking that if we love someone, we are somehow obligated to bow down to their wishes. In partnership, this often is the case, but not if it violates our lovely selves physically, mentally and spiritually.

If our perceptions are not in alignment with others, it does not necessarily mean that we are wrong. It is within articulation that judgment might come. When we give voice to our unique human experience, we acquiesce no more.
