Observation

"To acquire wisdom, one must observe."
Marilyn vos Savant

A photographer snaps numerous pictures of the same subject and then chooses the one preferred and discards the rest. Our eyes do the same thing. They snap pictures that get lodged in our mind and we forget to sort them through. Although we gain wisdom through observation, not everything needs to remain permanent.

In fueling our brain, we feed it with information that propels us forward on our journey. That which does not enhance our experience, can be discharged which leaves room for further observations. Just because we experience something, does not mean it needs to be lodged in our memory forever.

This encompasses not only facts but emotions as well. Those who surround us may be in a deep depression or chaotic state which we can observe but absorbing can become a detriment. What we are shown does not become an integral part of us unless we choose to sustain it. There is a need to be selective in our choosing.
