"Your minds may now be likened to a garden, which will,
if neglected, yield only weeds and thistles; but if cultivated,
will produce the most beautiful flowers and most delicious fruits.
Dorothea Dix
My mind is like a garden of weeds after a heavy rain. An endless overgrowth of random thoughts and emotions pop up. There is limited space to breathe let alone room to proceed. In spite of being mindful, negativity germinates spreading deep roots into my safe space. I must remove this proliferation before it settles in.
It is difficult to follow my path when I allow life to get in the way. The excess of a heavy presence darkens where I need to go. The view of what is yet to come becomes hidden and I can easily lose my way. I search for the light found in positive thinking which ultimately leads me back upon my chosen path.
Encouragement is lavished as I begin to see the small beauty on either side of me. Little sprouts remind me that I must push forward. Heavenly blossoms generate a freshness promising clarity around the bend. The birds sing songs offering creative speculation in rhyme and verse. My inner spirit soars as it is free once again.
