Stimulating Establishment

"Lock up your libraries if you like; but there is no gate, no lock, no bolt,
that you can set upon the freedom of the mind."
Virginia Woolf

Libraries are more than a building.  They offer a safe place no matter if we are young or old, without fees for travel or insights or rhapsodies.  These facilities serve as stimulating  learning establishments for inspiration, disclosure, and development.

Since childhood, my library card has been a prized possession offering safe passage in finding hope, testimony, and history. It opened doors into the world of the enlightened, persecuted and mentally tormented. A sense of connection encouraged me to not only read on the premises, but to establish a level of comfort to write in depth which would lead to creativity.

Whether seeking Khalil Gibran Albert Einstein or Virginia Woolf,  gateways remained open for truth to unfold.  I learned of dreamscapes and sacred rituals from the ancients which I longed to behold.  The value of a library is endless as it is a garden for our soul.

Speaking to Our Soul

"I can sit alone by an open window for hours if I like,
and hear only bird songs, and the rustle of leaves.  The
trees are pure gold and orange."
Virginia Woolf

Life can be overwhelming with critical thoughts in our head, mandatory appointments on our calendar, and unlimited self-imposed expectations from our jobs.  We tell our lovely selves we will deserve a break once our to-do lists have been completed.   Rarely, does that happen.

All of the above is a projection of how we want to be seen in the world.  We hope to carve out a place  where we may shine, where our work is recognized, and at long last feel secure in the presence of others.  The ultimate goal is to know we have made a change.

At some point in life, we begin to shed activities that no longer seem to heighten our life experience and we drift from people who no longer contribute to expanding our awareness.  Deeper within we go, being alone more with our own thoughts.  The realization that taking a walk, sitting on the porch, reading or listening to music can more clearly speak to our soul.

Senses vs Cognitive Thinking

"We shall be the mouth pieces
of the divine spirit ... "
Virginia Woolf

Women the ability to hear the unheard and see the unseen.  They smell vague aromas in the air and have anonymous sensations upon the skin.  Young mothers taste the sweet kisses of their newborns.  Indeed, the five senses seem to be heightened with females.  If we include the sixth sense (which I refer to as intuition), it also ranks extremely high with women.

As youngsters, we are probably more aware of the individual senses on a daily basis before we form filters which alter our perceptions.  As young adults, we might gravitate towards one particular sense over another or cycle in and out of them.  One thing for sure, as women age, all of the senses return doubly heightened.

Over the years, we create a way to access the senses on differing levels.  The senses, when called upon, shine through our contributions whether expressed in the arts or various arenas.  With time, we begin to understand the privilege of being a vessel for spirit.  Spirit uses us as a tool to reach out to others.  The information we share pours through our senses, not through our cognitive thinking.
