Just Curious ...

"Love the giver more than the gift."
Brigham Young

Just curious, when you span back across the years of holiday celebrations, do you remember the gifts you received or what food you were served? Hopefully, your memories are warmly wrapped in loving thoughts of the people sharing space. Perhaps you can still hear the laughter from stories stirring the heart.

Just curious, do you remember what you wore to be festive? Was it a brilliantly expensive newly purchased outfit or sweat pants with Christmas socks? Are you nudged into remembering who was not present and whether or not it made you happy or sad? Elements of emotion are like a kaleidoscope twisted and turned.

Just curious, are you ready to fast forward into the New Year? Have you already had enough or do the deepest part of the self crave more? Perhaps you long for miracles to make you feel whole again, releasing the trials and tribulations of this past year. Be gentle with your lovely self, and notice how you are a gift to others.

Stand Up, Please

"You educate a woman, you educate a generation."
Brigham Young

Stand up please, and allow your lovely self to be celebrated.  As a female, not only can you birth humans into this world, but through articulation and example, you are constantly reflecting information. Whatever you learn is expressed through actions, thoughts, and words.

You may or may not share with your parents or have siblings hanging on every word.  There will be children,  classmates, teachers, and relationships all exposed to what you personally represent. This is why it is vitally important to stand by your truth, and not hide it.

The challenges you face help to propel you forward.  You are encouraged to never minimize nor disrespect the self or others.  There is no one else like you and you bring into our world a special sense of being.  Please stand so that you can be applauded!

Happy Homemaker, Obedient Wife or Some Dumb Bunny

"You educate a man; you educate a man.
You educate a woman; you educate a generation."
Brigham Young

Gratitude fills my soul when I recall all of the children I have worked with in my career and with those I gave birth.  I did not have a strong sense of 'who I was' but I clearly knew who I wasn't.  I defied stereotypical roles such as the happy homemaker, the obedient wife, or some dumb bunny.

Not having a true sense of self led me down pathways decorated by my creative spirit.  If I had known who I was, I would not have been a seeker exploring the belly of life or the realms of heaven. I slowly expanded through trial and error, regrouped, and searched again.

My willingness to seek taught me a resilience I never would have had.  Determination, coupled with stubbornness, and imagination led me beyond false scenarios.  Focus on the individual spirit, allowed me to embrace the next generation as authentic beings capable of enormous growth.
