"People don't care how much you know
until they know how much you care."
John C. Maxwell
When things go dark and I loose my way, I can count on those in my life who will notice that I have strayed. They will quietly walk by my side, listening without interruption. No matter how I try to hide, they see the pain in my eyes and detect the heaviness in my heart. Their tender loving presence reminds me that I am not alone.
Those close to our hearts detect both joy and sorrow. They have taken the time to truly know us beyond the surface. They read our body language, and listen to the tone of our voice. When our focus strays, they do not interrupt or try to impose their wisdom upon us. Acceptance arrives free and clear.
And this is how I long to be ... clearly present for others without an agenda; becoming a mirror to see themselves; being a sounding board where words can fly without censorship; reflecting their self-worth; and offering a safe space to heal. Together, we can face the world creating a deeper sense of connectivity.
