"The boomers' biggest impact will be on eliminating the term
retirement and inventing a new stage of life ...
the new career arc."
Rosabeth Moss Kanter
If you were privileged to meet folks who were once labeled 'hippies', you will know how very gifted many of them were. There came a time, however, where beards were shaved and bras were once again adorned. They acquiesced to social expectations to advance provisions for families they would liberally raise.
There was so much talent to be found within the 'groupies' whether wood workers, weavers, gardeners, song writers or poets. Many of these gifts were put on hold while expanding into professional lives. Now that they have reached retirement, they are returning to what they love which is creative artful expression.
Hippies were tender hearted and peaceful individuals and they have not lost these qualities. Settling into the later years of life, they are once again teaching their trade, sharing passions, and communicating peace with peoples, places, and things. They did not grow old to die, man. They aged to get 'high on life".
