Beneath Emotional Standing

"Underneath our preoccupations with getting
ahead and being accepted, there is a
deep well of pain:  our unbelonging."
Toko-pa Turner

With the lineage of families fading away and the bonds of relationship stored in a technical space, it is no wonder we are feeling as though we have little sense of meaningful connection.  Perhaps it comes to us as as a yearning for deep roots.

When stories of our ancestors cease and family dynamics interfere with elder impressions, there is a loss.  We may not be able to put a name to it, but there is a shifting we feel directly beneath our emotional standing.

When our ancestors become both faceless and nameless and there is no physical home to return to, we can grow lonely with materialism no longer meeting our needs.  We crave a sense of belonging that would leave traces that we have, indeed, been here.
