Sails of Sinking Ship

"Going through hardships gives us strength in the places we'd never thought to develop,
spaces we didn't know we'd occupy, room to reach beyond ourselves,
toward others who are where we had been."
Kao Kalia Yang

In the midst of the lesson, it is wise to notice how deeply the challenge spirals into numerous levels.  If we can liberally stretch ourselves to embrace areas outside of our comfort zone, our understanding broadens.  During peril, we find it necessary to reach out to extended hands we have never touched before.

As time moves along, we come across someone who is struggling similarly as we once did.  We have the choice to simply be reminded of our misery or to become the hand reaching out.  It doesn't have to be about deep involvement.  By acknowledging the situation, we can simply listen ... to just be present during a very isolated time.

If we choose to share our story, it validates to the listener that he or she too can survive.  By mentioning the strengths we surprisingly developed during our difficult time or the blessings arriving afterwards can billow the sails of a sinking ship.
