"Rhythm is our universal mother tongue.
It is the language of the soul."
Gabrielle Roth
A public wooden swing can transport me back in time or forward into peaceful realms. It is a positive childhood memory where I could escape the world and be lulled into peacefulness. The same is true for today. Maybe it is the rhythm of swinging back and forth that calms my body, mind, and soul ... even now as I age.
People may experience the same thing while listening to music, playing an instrument, toning or singing. Rhythm is like an unspoken language. We spend too much of our time running from what bothers us rather than stilling the chaos inside our soul. Whether we are listening to the sound of water or whales, we become lulled.
Think of how our lives began. We were rocked in our mother's arms and maybe she even sang to us. Being pushed in a stroller also offered rhythm. Maybe when you wake up in the night and cannot sleep, allow thoughts to stream back to peaceful rhythms. Experience the r movement which may rock you back to sleep.
