How Life Gets Better ...

"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal."
Steve Maraboli

Even when we are feeling totally helpless, there is someone nearby that we can help. Whether we hold a door open or offer a smile, we have no idea how we have just changed the direction of someone else's life. We must never allow ourselves to become so absorbed in our own helplessness that we ignore the world around us.

And speaking of the world around us ... we may feel totally at loss about the chaos everywhere. There are choices, however. We can send either a positive email or a quick text to friends. We can reach out to trusted soul sisters, get out in nature or journal to our hearts content. It is best to give voice to our fears to make room inside for peace.

There are endless ways to extend our heart. Whether we feed and water the birds or donate an old box fan to a charity, we are helping support positive movement. We can plant beautiful flowers in our yard for those passing by to feel joy in their presence. When we give generously from our heart, life gets better.

Mystical

"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal."
Steve Maraboli

In the grocery store, my heart was heavy and filled with sadness. Then there was this toddler sitting in the cart next to mine and he was screaming his head off. Tears rolled down his beet red face, and eyes were scrunched shut. Suddenly he opened them and looked at me, reaching out towards me.

His chubby little hand grasped my extended finger and he hung on tightly. I thought I was helping him until I felt the warmth only love can provide. There was kind light flowing through me, pushing away my darkness. His eyes were intense and I willingly fell into his compassionate stare.

Reaching into my purse, I pulled out a small vial of bubbles. I opened it and blew a few into the now pristine air. He laughed and I smiled, so I offered another round.  I looked at his mom, who was choosing oranges, and asked if her son could have these bubbles. "Of course," she said, clueless of our mystical exchange.

Harvest of Goodness

"Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love;
it will all come back to you in abundance.  This is
the law of nature."

Steve Maraboli

When we share a smile or an act of kindness, we immediately feel better.  Loving kindness lifts the spirits of others as well as our own.  Whether we are assisting an elder  or propping up a broken  plant, we are projecting goodness.  If we simply remain open, numerous opportunities come into our lives.

If we become aware the moment a negative remark triggers an upset in our thoughts, words, or actions, we can also be mindful to let it go.  Do not engage before there has been ample time to process appropriately and not simply react thoughtlessly.

Whatever seeds we plant, nurture and tend  will bring us a harvest of abundance.  We can place our energy into offering kindness without giving thought to what we will gain in return.   If we remain open and aware, we will recognize goodness in many disguises.
