Sitting on the screened in porch, I wait for the early evening stroll of the deer. Ever so quietly they graze their way out into the field. There is something so magically innocent about these animals. The sweet doe prances about streaking ahead or mindlessly lingering behind in the tall grass. The stag, rarely seen, strides alone.
If I set my cup down upon the glass table, they will hear me and instantly stop stock still. The odd thing is they will look directly at me as though they know exactly where I am as well as who I am. They seem to detect that I am not of any threat and after a long pause delicately continue their movement forward.
Night after night, I do not speak out loud to these sweet spirits, but it is as though we have exchanged volumes of endearments. I deliberately make a slight sound, and they immediately stare straight at me. Telepathically, I tell them I mean them no harm, and intuitively that they believe me. These exchanges warm my heart.
