"The next best thing to being wise oneself is to live in a circle of those who are."
C S Lewis
Being present in a circle, there is comfort in movement around the area with no one behind or in front. Individuals each have a turn to express themselves. The circle can band together closer or expand to accommodate change. There is beauty in the sharing of knowledge for reaching joint conclusions.
There are sewing circles, knitting or crocheting circles, prayer circles and dream circles, to mention just a few. Drum Circles allow each person to participate, and each beat tends to eventually blend into a compatible rhythm within the circle. The same might hold true for a council meeting sharing ideas to form one consensus.
Working in a circle takes pressure off one person determining the outcome. Each person has the chance to express his or her knowledge which then can be combined with the wisdom of others. No one is sitting behind and no one is placed in front. It seems to be the optimum shape for all voices to be heard with combined outcome.
