" In the beginners mind there are many possibilities,
but in the expert's there are few."
Suzuki Roshi, Zen Master
We tell ourselves limiting beliefs and unfairly compare our gifts to that of others. When we remember that in the beginners mind, all things are possible. It is through our innocence that we can explore. We begin to see things in a new light. With rigid barriers lowered, we can entertain new ideas and perceptions.
There may be interests in our past that fell short of completion. We are in a different space right now, so perhaps there is additional time or wiser approaches. Replace the attitude of knowing the outcome with a curiosity about alternative results. With new eyes, we can be amazed at what we simply didn't see.
Span the eternal list of scientists and artists who were rejected for years before his or her work was taken seriously. If starting without accelerated expectations, our curiosity can continuously bump us into untapped opportunities. If we stay in the moment simply enjoying the process, joy is waiting for us.
