Extending Light

The multisensory personality sees Divinity or God or Divine Intelligence or whatever word it chooses to use for this, as Light.  It sees those through whom Divinity flows consciously, such as the Christ, the Buddha, and Krishna, as beings of Light, beings of wholeness, integration, and completeness.

Gary Zukav
THE SEAT OF THE SOUL

Light is energy and light as Divine Energy is in all things ... both living and inanimate objects.  Auras of energy or light can be seen around plants as well as human beings.  If a rock is held in our hand or if we sit on a large boulder, eventually we will begin to feel energy coming from the formation.   All elements of life have energy or light:  water, air, fire, and earth.

So if we can sense the presence of light or God in all things and all beings, we are called to treat everyone and every thing honorably or with respect.  If we maintain the awareness of Divine being present, our actions are called to a higher level of relating.

Violence or harsh reactions attract very abrasive energy over shadowing the light within us.  When we allow our light to stay strong, we operate on a higher frequency or more compatible vibration.

As an energy worker (Reiki Master and Karuna Reiki Master) I use light every day.  I send light or energy to those who are challenged or to those whom I love dearly.  The more I use energy, the stronger my light grows which allows me to extend light out into the world.

Light can be thought of as Divine Energy or prayer or love as it takes on many forms.  As we open our hearts and let our light shine from within we attract more light and make our surroundings a better place to be.  Let us be more deliberate in extending our light as it not only  improves the well being of others, but our own sense of joy, as well.

Spread the Light

There are two ways of spreading light:
to be the candle or
the mirror that reflects it.

Edith Wharton

Candles have always mesmerized me.  They have been freely used in my life for much more than celebration.  Candles have held a vigil with me during times of sorrow or loss.  They have honored accomplishments and have been a presence when feeling so alone.

The dance of the wavering flame always brings a smile.  And it is in the flame that I can get forget about time and space.  The flickering of the flame reminds me of the Sacred Heart of Jesus portrayed in so many childhood images with light extending from the heart.  The brightness of the flame brings to mind the golden auras surrounding angels, saints, and other domains.

Through energy work I have learned to be a vessel of light to be extended to all others.  As the light grows within me, I am able to spread light into the unsuspecting and suspecting hearts of others.  When I am in this light, I too, feel like the flame of the candle.

There are other times when I am only meant to be a mirror, to reflect my inner light outside of myself.  The more we know our inner selves, forgiving and accepting both strengths and weaknesses, the greater reflection we cast.

Whether candle or reflection, we can spread our light.  The more we walk in the light, the stronger the flame grows.  Light attracts light and so together we can light up the world.

Rainmaker by Clarissa Pinkola Estes

RAINMAKER: YOU COULD BE THE WATER ...

By the scent of water alone,
the withered vine comes back to life,
and thus ... wherever the land is dry and hard,
you could be the water;
or you could be the iron blade
disking the earth open;
or you could be the 'acequia',
the mother ditch, carrying the water
from the river to the fields
to grow the flowers for the farmers;
or you could be the honest engineer
mapping the dams that must be taken down,
and those dams which could remain to serve
the venerable all, instead of only the very few.
You could be the battered vessel
for carrying the water by hand;
or you could be the one
who stores the water.
You could be the one who
protects the water,
or the one who blesses it,
or the one who pours it.
Or you could be the tired ground
that receives it;
or you could be the scorched seed
that drinks it;
or you could be the vine,
green-growing overland,
in all your wild audacity ...

Untie the Strong Woman
Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD

It is important for each one of us to discover the role we play in the greater scheme of things.  We must identify our strengths and use them accordingly.  There is no role too small or insignificant as we all form the whole together.

Be A Light

Too often we underestimate the power
of a touch, a smile, a kind word,
a listening ear, and honest compliment,
or the smallest act of caring,
all of which have the potential
to turn a life around.

Leo F. Buscaglia

The world keeps getting smaller and smaller.  Our children are taking mission trips to countries we never studied in grade school geography.  Our society is so mobile that by life's end, we may have traveled to many states or countries whereas our parents may have never left their county.   As the world grows smaller, people become more aware of diversity, but also catch glimpses of the human kindness residing in us all.  As we begin to extend a small act of caring to each other, all of our lives are impacted.

If life is full, having creative expression and spiritual connection, harmony and bliss radiates.  If life is not full, lacking in meaning and purpose, unhealthy behaviors prevail.  An individual filled with rage can impact the lives of many.  We each need to be aware of the well being of each other.  Our small act of kindness does make a difference in our communities.

Each one of us needs to be mindful of others.  Perhaps by staying connected to Divine Spirit, we will feel strong enough to keep vigil for those who have lost their way...for those who are in such darkness they cannot see the light.  If we can be a light for ourselves as well as for one other, we lift our community.

Allowing our selves to feel Spirit throughout our day, we grow less stressful and more open to our true nature.  When we have peace within us, when our self-esteem is uplifted, we can experience our selves just as we were created.  Self-acceptance leads us to acceptance of others.  In turn, others are drawn to our gentle energy and feel safe to be authentic as well.

Let's be an individual flame, and when grouped together with others, we will become a collective glow that can light up the world!
