Sadness Drips Away ...

"There are two ways of spreading light:
to be the candle or
the mirror that reflects it."
Edith Wharton

Feeling lethargic, I grabbed a candle, my journal, and hot tea as I sank into my favorite chair. All was good in my life and I was facing the holidays with warm expectation. But there was something in my heart that was weighing me down. Accumulated sadness gained my attention as the faces of lost friends floated to the surface.

Becoming lost in the flame of my candle, I recalled the comfort of being with sisters of my heart who had been taken by death. There was comfort in knowing they were safely living in another dimension, and that we would join together another day. But in this moment, I missed their laughter, wisdom, and quirky ways.

There were a few more candles, so I ignited the flames of each, honoring my long time friends. As I did so, memories surfaced and it was as though they had joined me. My heart swelled, and the sadness dripped away. These were forever friends and I had simply 'lost' them in a physical way. Our hearts were still joined together on any given day.

Spreading Light

"There are two ways to spreading light:
to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."
Edith Wharton

Over 30 years ago, I became an energy worker which impacted my life in various positive ways.  I studied under a well seasoned Reiki Master who was a recognized healer. In three years I accelerated through three levels of Reiki and then became a Reiki Master.  Time passed, and I rejoined my original Reiki family and studied three more levels and became a Karuna Reiki Master.  In the years to follow, I added other miscellaneous techniques, including a certificate in massage therapy.

My educational tools of a double major in Sociology and Psychology offered an interesting blend with my growing spirituality.  Hands on experience broadened my 'knowings' and visions as to how energy fields differ and how to align body, mind, and spirit.  In time, I grew especially sensitive to the weakness in someone's energetic field simply by observing them.

Sending energy long distance has become a daily commitment.  Light is at my core and it is extended to every person and each place I come in contact with.  The candle that burns steadily within reflects out into the world.  I like to think of myself as a vessel that Spirit uses as a healing tool.

Let It Shine

"There are two ways of spreading light:
to be the candle or

Endless negative experiences continue to happen in our world, leaving us to feel powerless; but in truth, we are radiant sources of energy and light.  Our inner glow brightens the deeper we connect with the Divine. When we radiate our light, it is a positive force for change.

Our vibration may not be felt across the world, but it certainly adds to the collective energy working towards compassion and peace within our families and communities.  Our bodies host a spark of light from the Divine which grows brighter as we focus on improving ourselves.

The importance is not how we contribute, but how to offer our best out into the world.  There are energy workers holding vigils for peace or shifting energies one person at a time. When we use prayer, contemplation, energy work or visualization, our light of goodness can encourage and brighten the dark spaces of others.
