"Have no fear of perfection:
you'll never reach it."
Marie Curie
In Sunday school, one learns about God's perfect children.. For awhile, our ego upholds this idea that the world is joyfully amused by us. Then a few missteps are taken, and we imagine the wrath of God. Parents emphasis on bad things we do, sinks us deeper into the desire to hide the self.
I guess it was a blessing that I knew from the get-go that I was imperfect. There were never praises nor encouragement so it wasn't difficult to accept my imperfection. Teachers or peers carried on the habit of pointing out the negative not the positive.
The word has finally hit the street that no one, indeed, is perfect. Our imperfections are what leads us into the role of a human being. The challenge is to use what we have in creative and satisfying ways ... ways that make us proud to be just as we are.
