Full Moon Shakes Things Up

"Escape from the black cloud that surrounds you. Then you
will see your own light as radiant as the full moon."
Rumi

The moon, for me, has been an everlasting and dependable companion since childhood. Whether I could see it or not, in my heart, I knew it was there. It was symbolic of life moving through phases of darkness into the light. It's stable momentum reflected how the pace of moving forward needed to be steady and slow.

The moon travels across the sky with pockets of imperfection on its surface. It is alone while it changes shapes, but never loses its vibrations. And is this not just like me? From day to day I experience life differently through phases not always predictable. I journey through dark passages, believing light is waiting for me.

Full moon energy is chaotic, disrupting frequencies, shaking things up. This, too, is an example of my life ... smooth sailing until high winds and destructive waves spit me out upon the shore. Exampled by the full moon, I continue on knowing that the new moon phase will offer new ways of being able to shine my light.

Crevices ...

"A secret freedom opens through a crevice you can barely see."
Rumi

When we fall short of our goal or neglect to stay the course, it is easy to criticize and shame ourselves. How different our experience would be if we reacted with kindness and loving tolerance for human error. If we would respond with understanding and patience just like we would for a friend, our ability to advance would heighten.

The ability to accept our flaws allows us higher energy to explore even our darkest cracks hiding the past or what we are avoiding in the present. It is within these crevices that we reclaim our power and bring light to what needs to be healed. Embracing our limitations, oddly offers us a true sense of freedom.

Entering into closed off spaces, we begin to understand our automatic reactions to people, places and things. Everything that we have repressed taints our view of the present and limits our sense of ability. Bringing fresh air into what has been closed off reduces fear and welcomes fresh insight leading to authentic living.

Neglected Lessons

"If the house of the world is dark,
Love will find a way to create windows."
Rumi

When will we ever honor the correlation between the world at large and our individual self? How long before we connect the dots between what we do to others directly or indirectly impacts the self? Where will we finally recognize the correlation between integrity, moral code, and peace? How is it that we neglect the lessons from our own history?

We can criticize local government and bad mouth community leaders, but if we were to remain silent, could we come up with positive actions that could be quietly administered without global expense? What if we quietly sat still pondering what we could personally do to bring help to our neighbors?

Look into the eyes of the wise ones and feel his or her inner peace. Become stimulated by sharing stories, produce from a garden or simple gestures to help others. Avoid frustration from swirling chaos and determine what specific difference we can make not in the voting booth, but in grocery store lines, traffic lanes, and strangers passing by.

Tainted, Closed Down

"Ignore those who make you fearful and sad,
that degrade you back towards disease and death."
Rumi

If we allow ourselves to be disrespected, our spirits become snuffed. When our hearts are emotionally broken, our digestive and nervous systems are impacted.  Physical, emotional, and spiritual stagnation creates an unhealthy environment disallowing us to thrive.

The earlier we remove ourselves from those who threaten our well being, the faster we can begin living with respect and appreciation for who we are and who we are meant to be.  We deceive ourselves thinking we need to be polite in spite of harm.

When the over bearing negative actions of others alter us, we fail to thrive. Everything becomes tainted and we close down inside.  To become whole once again, we are called to facilitate change. Explore resources, reach out, and modify existing patterns.

Right in Front of Me ...

"When you do things from your soul,
you feel a river moving in you."
Rumi

Empowered by a spiritual influence, my life experienced alignment and  opened my senses to what was always right in front of me.  Seasonal winds blew away programed ways of thinking and spring rains cleansed perceptions.  Peace became readily available.

The challenging parts, however, have been living in the midst of others who do not share my optimism.  Allowing my self to be open and vulnerable, I have learned from opposite points of view and reenforced my own values.

And isn't that the intended value of life ... to live in the midst of diversity, embracing what we need and shedding what no longer supports?  This spiritual river flowing within me prevents stagnation and increasingly improves my view.  Yes, there are ripples in shallow water, but I choose to trust the guidance of my soul.

Tiniest Speck of Self

"God turns you from one feeling to another and
teaches by means of opposites so that you will
have two wings to fly, not one."
Rumi

Geese fly in a V formation with one leader.  When the leader grows tired, he falls to the back, and the next goose moves into the role of leader.  If one of the geese becomes inured and falls to the ground, at least one other goose will follow it, staying until both are ready to fly.

This example demonstrates the importance of knowing more than one role as it better prepares us for change.  Whether the world changes around us so our mission becomes extinct or we as individuals change our focus and shift directions, it is best if we are diverse enough to adjust.

Perhaps this is where the saying, "The right hand needs to know what the left hand is doing," originated.  We are multi-gifted and the world will benefit if we can share all parts of our being. We never know when life will once again shift, calling us to utilize the tiniest speck of self, maybe so small it will never be used again; but, we were ready and accountable.
