Empowered by Light

"Nothing binds you except your own thoughts;
nothing limits you except your fear;
and nothing controls you except your beliefs."
Marianne Williamson

Deep within us, there is a light that is directly related to our spiritual origin. Just as the body needs to be fed and cared for, so does our light. When left unattended, it loses its luster and flickers dim. When we are consciously aware of our light, strengthening it and projecting it, it grows in strength and durability.

This light is a beacon to fellow travelers, to be felt and recognized in the midst of strangers. It is emanated from us to everything that surrounds us. It is also a tether to invisible divinity waiting to guide and support us. The light is an antenna to silently communicate with loved ones, nature, divinity and other worldly entities.

Light can also be considered an energy. It has a subtle presence and can spread beyond boundaries. It is most widely spread by touch as in hugging and shaking hands, as well as through eye contact. When our light energy is thriving within, it penetrates outside of us and draws others near. Connecting with inner light empowers.

Between Here and There

"You will fear the darkness only to the extent that
you yourself are not providing light."
Marianne Williamson

Just small measures ahead do I stand from darkness. It is right here, hovering, and wanting its way. In my heart, I do know that I am never slinking back, and yet I fear the hot breath bearing down upon me in its own way. No longer will it define me, but I must learn the balance between this darkness and my light.

I am always traveling, seemingly never to arrive. I carry my inner light to shine upon darkened places for it is there that I best understand. I know where I have been and at what cost I survived, and balance the need between here and there. Carefully, I make artistic strokes across the page, but in time all colors fade.

There are times I feel so deeply lost, then magically beckoned by light towards a healing path. Who are these spirits appearing as radiance so that I may find my way? I find pure joy in their presence and remain deeply grateful for the kindling of my flame.  For it is when I contain this light that I will find my way.

In The Midst of Chaos

"In a noisy world, seek the silence in your heart.  And through the power of silence, the energies of chaos will be brought back to harmony ~ not by you, but through you, as all miracles are.  When we visit this silence regularly, particularly in the morning, then the days of our lives become lit from above."

~Marianne Williamson

Living without chaos was a youthful goal of mine.  I envisioned my adult life as calm and serene.  Then  I came to realize life is chaos and my goal needed to change to living in the midst of chaos.  There was a choice as to how I could respond to the craziness of my surroundings.

If we begin our days with peace of mind, we are more apt to remain balanced throughout our day.  Just by being still for a few moments can prepare us for our day.  We can find those moments on the back porch with our coffee; in the shower; staring out a window; and through deliberate prayer, contemplation or meditation.  Some will say, "I don't have time for that!"  which really means being silent to begin the day has not yet reached priority level.

In the middle of family breakfast, morning meetings, or business travel, a person benefits from being mindful of being calm.  Getting pulled off balance by rudeness, not being listened to, or total disregard, can be avoided.  By experiencing  each chaotic moment with remembered silence, we can calmly continue forward without losing our inner alignment.

As we experience the beauty of silence, it will grow within us becoming our very nature.  We will find our selves navigating in the flow of life rather than defensively barging through.  Experiencing silence in brief moments throughout the day, will keep us mindful of Divine Spirit working through us enhanced by our calm in spite of the chaos surrounding us.
