How Can You Know ...

"How can you know what you're capable of
if you don't embrace the unknown?"
Esmeralda Santiago

Life is like a colorful paintbox needing to be used. There are numerous colors in the box waiting to be blended and splattered. There isn't just one way to create nor is there just one brush. We, as multi-sided humans, need to nourish all parts of ourselves to experience the life that was intended.

A friend introduced herself as a retired therapist. I laughed out loud at this narrow boring description. Afterall, she was a teacher, artist, writer, and in-depth spiritual leader. There is praise for modesty, but there must also be respect for what we have contributed to our personal life as well as to others.

Look into your paintbox. How many colors are you using? When did you last change the water? How many brushes are you using? If bored, you must hold yourself accountable. What have you secretly wanted to do ... dancing, singing, writing, travel. You have access to your inner spirit, and now is the time to splash some paint around!

Acquiesce Division

"How can you know what you are capable of
if you do not embrace the unknown?"
Esmeralda Santiago

Crawling towards the light, I emerge from the depths of the dark tunnel. Passing through the portal of fear and confusion, doubt is stripped from me.  I enter a space of caressing water where I am kissed by light and hear a voice whispering to me.

Looking back, it is difficult to describe. In this passage I followed a singular dot, growing into a beam.  I stood in the light, washed anew, as my feet lead me forward to a place I never knew.  As I search my eyes deflect signs of division and I see eternal love waiting for me.

As old pain slides down my spine, the water cleanses and dissolves old wounds.  No longer does darkness  keep me from opening my heart nor living fully as I was meant to be.  I can now see the importance of my years, and the beauty still awaiting me.

Substance Named Soul

The temperature reached the lower 70's so I settled into my rocking chair on the back porch.  It was healing to feel the sun shining down upon my face and my mind comforted by watching the delicate clouds forming in the blue sky.

While listening to the birds, a gentle breeze seemed to blow all of my thoughts away.  This experience was everything like spiritual input encouraged.  Just be still.  Just be without definition, attachment, or chasing rainbows.

Change is etched into every circumstance and nothing lasts forever, but there is a suspended space where one can project his or her story, personality, and life circumstances without involvement.  To sense being a presence within the suit of a human being, one comes to know the invisible substance named soul.
