Becoming Conscious ...

"People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid
facing their own souls. One does not become enlightened by imagining
figures of light, but by making the dark conscious."
Carl Jung

It is unfortunate that we choose to hide, rather than reach out. Instead of giving fresh air to that which has spoiled, we tend to bury it deeper. It is when we open our door to pain that healing can begin. We cannot always avoid darkness, but if we look carefully, there is always a way to let light in.

When a human being is in crisis, they need to express themselves to someone, whether it be their beloved pet, therapist, or best friend. If we remember that we all hold darkness within us, loving kindness can flow between two souls. It is in the deception of being unworthy that we believe our darkness must be hidden.

If we have been abandoned or betrayed, we may be extremely independent, hiding ourselves. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, hope and receptivity brings light to our healing. When we choose to face our own darkness, the inner flame grows stronger. We realize we are worthy and do not have to face the darkness alone.

Loneliness Falling to the Side

"Loneliness does not come from having no people around you,
but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you."
Carl Jung

Observing body language and listening to what is and what is not being said can be quite revealing. One couple has engaged with others in a lively conversation, except every time the woman starts to speak, the man shouts right over her. Across the room, a woman stops to chat with a friend while her significant other sighs deeply in annoyance.

And then there is the life of the party, laughing, flirting and sashaying around the room. If one looks closely enough, however, the dark loneliness lingering in her eyes is difficult to miss.  Her clothes may be flashy and jewelry beyond compare, but one can easily sense her depths of despair.

Loneliness is the result of not exploring ways to nurture and meet our own needs. Time spent by our lovely selves is imperative to identifying what we want and how we feel. If we cultivate our personal discoveries and articulate them, we will thrive! When we have the courage to be seen and heard, loneliness falls to the side.

Connecting with the Cosmos

"The starry vault of heaven is in truth the open book of cosmic projection."
Carl Jung

You take note of all the stressors in your life, but when was the last time you looked up into the sky and observed clouds gently passing by?  Have you watched a rising sun or witnessed it falling into the far distant sky? And what of stars twinkling in the night or small creatures scampering in the park?

Rather than obsessing with all that is going wrong, attention allocated to the simple magic of the cosmos can restore your sagging sense of self. Rather than hiding from all that is falling astray, hitch a ride with the stars for a brief visit away. Whether visualization or meditation, the act of connection aligns you with the sacred presence in life.

Where you place your attention forms perceptions of the current time. If you obsess with what is going wrong without counter balancing with what is going right, you will be overwhelmed and dismayed. Open both your heart and eyes, witnessing sacred intervention, while deepening your faith in human kind.

Outside of Me

"Your visions will become clear only when you can look
into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who
looks inside, awakes."
Carl Jung

I pick up my journal, and grab a pen, as I settle into my comfortable chair. This is a safe space for me as there is no judgment, so no need to edit. Just beginning, my words may be stilted, but as I go, there is nothing but free flow. Uncensored pain escapes from me and fears spread across the page ... finally outside of me.

Psychologically, it is vitally important to unpack emotional layers that interrupt our sense of wellness. When not addressed, these carelessly stacked feelings begin to blanket our physical health. Sorrow and pain when stacked together become the weight of our world. When there is no where to turn, no one to listen, a pen and journal become healing tools.

Writing helps us to become centered, once again. Hidden thoughts escape onto the page and we become wiser. With greater understanding of the stacked layers, we find the energy to begin removing them. Physically, we begin to feel stronger and emotionally lighter. Hope returns with the will to move forward.

Inward Visions

.

"Your vision will become clear only when you can look into
your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams,
who looks inside, awakes."
Carl Jung

Sight is the ability to see the beauty of the world in various colors and shapes and the diversity of people. It gives us a sense of control as we can see the movement around us or the distance before us. We are educated by reading signs whether posted on a billboard or someone's face.

Vision escorts us inside to the unseen or beyond what is before us. It is a deeper experience gaining wisdom and insight. When we close our eyes, we are not distracted by the outside world. We take deep dives into realms of thought, feelings and emotions. Vision connects us deeper than simple vision.

As life allows us to settle down, we have increased time to turn inside to create our journey. We heighten intuition to guide us along our path that leads to our heart's desire. As we hold visions in silence, we can be carried beyond the physical world into the realms of possibility.

Dark Becomes Conscious

"One does not become enlightened by imagining
figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious."
Carl Jung

Perhaps, a true goal for life is the discovery of who we are personally and collectively.  It is with the intention of clarity, we begin to filter out what does not belong to us and highlight what resonates.

Life is about lessons and the level of student we choose to become.  Do we just want to get by or do we seek with intensity?  Life force is not determined by standing in a spiritual light, but rather how bravely we carry our light into the darkness.

We grow our personal light to see our own imperfection and to heal.  We begin to see how to resolve issues and the meaning that comes with them. As we reflect our own light, others will be encouraged to do the same.
