Choose Wisely

"We need to stay current with each other."
Angeles Arrien

There is a flaw in human nature that allows us to see people as we want them to be, rather than seeing them as they are.  We accommodate shortcomings by focusing on inflated strengths.  We endeavor to make a relationship work, when it is ill fitted.

When we are hurt enough, we reevaluate the relationship.  Can we accept our friend as they are or can we release the person in search of healthier matches.  Women in particular will tolerate unacceptable behavior stretching boundaries.  We want to be nice.  We desire to be in a love relationship.  At what cost do we avoid reality

Life is a dance and some friends switch partners while others crush our feet.  We really do have choice, and we honestly have indicators as to when to continue the dance and when to stop. We are back to awareness and listening to our instincts.  We create our circumstances enhancing them or  violating self-respect.  Choose wisely.

Shift Allegiance

"We must shift our allegiances from fear to curiosity,
from attachment to letting go, from control to trust,
and from entitlement to humility."
Angeles Arrien

Can we listen without desire to change opposing views?   If we can shift fear out of the control seat and hold trust firmly, it would be possible to become  family dwelling upon sacred ground.

If we can shift our allegiance away from fear, the status of life situations will be less distorted and therefore, enhanced.  If we hold our individual self accountable, change begins.  One by one, we can base our life upon trust and kindness.  Let us shift our focus and begin ...

Impact and Recall

"That which we witness, we are forever changed by,
and once witnessed we can never go back."
Angeles Arrien

Sit by a candle and stare into the flame and be aware of what memories surface in the mind.  Begin jotting down incidents from childhood and be amazed by what comes floating to the top.  Recall uncomfortable moments and re-experience how it makes the body feel when experiencing our personal strength and endurance.

Then take the same actions but with intention to recall moments of joy or happiness or security.  Experience how differently these thoughts impact emotions and tension within the body.  Reliving moments can increase our sense of belonging and stability.

The thoughts we think just as the situations we experience impact our perception.  It is up to us to determine which belongs to us and what needs to be released.  This not only promotes better health, it also makes us feel lighter and more buoyant.  Our perception is more likely to stay with a positive view which increases our willingness to embrace all of our lives.
