We did it! We adopted a 4 year old Golden Retriever from a Nashville Rescue Shelter. Hannah had been held in a 'dog pound' in Alabama after the terrible tornadoes in April 2011. While there, she had her first litter and all of the puppies were adopted, but not Hannah. She was next in line to be "put down" at the animal shelter. Realizing Hannah's sweet disposition, the staff took turns taking her home over night until they found a safe place for her at the rescue center in Nashville.
My daughter found information about Hannah on line. This beautiful animal was in a foster home, so we filled out an application which was reviewed and accepted. The foster mom, a warm and caring young spirit, turned out to have mutual friends with my daughter. Hannah visited us in our home and then we got to visit her in her foster home. We loved her!
Hannah has been neutered, looks exactly like a golden except she has more of a medium build. She has the sweetest temperament and very gentle manners. Hannah is totally housebroken and has my daughter and me totally wrapped around her paw! She rides very well in the car and does great on the leash so I'll have a walking buddy! Our fenced in 1/4 acre lot will give her plenty of space to play, but she is an indoor companion.
Hannah totally ignores Trudy our 7 year old Tuxedo cat, but Trudy is ever so curious. Trudy follows Hannah no matter where she goes acting like a sheep herder!
Just really excited and wanted to share!
Blessings to all!
