Glimmers of Light

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."
Desmond Tutu

Walking in the neighborhood, I passed homes with light shining outward into the darkness.  The windows held radiant beams that stirred emotions within me. The projected glow somehow warmed my heart. Even though I was on the outside, there was comfort in knowing that there was light throughout the world.

There are numerous ways light touches us. Whether a lighthouse or a firefly, a campfire or a candle, the sacredness of light can help us feel reverent or safe. Some are drawn by the moon or the sun as a focal point for calm. And what of the stars glittering up in the sky? If we slowed down, the glimmer would catch our eye.

We house a light inside of ourselves that expands and contracts. It may not be seen by others, but they indeed can sense it. We can be a beacon for those who are feeling lost or seeking a safe harbor. Our warm glow can offer comfort and calm. Light a candle today and celebrate the light that dwells within.
